Dear Guests, Friends and Family,
On the first week end in June, our family will be participating in Make-A-Wish foundations Trailblaze Challenge. It is a one day 28.3 miles trek across the Foothills Trail in Western North Carolina. Our goal as a family is to complete the amazing challenge in one day, rain or shine AND raise at least $8500 for Make-A-Wish, to help fund the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich their lives with hope, strength and joy at a time when they need it most. A wish come true empowers children to fight harder against their illnesses. When they are granted a wish, they get more than just a great experience for a day, two days, or a week. That experience improves the quality of life for them and their entire family. We experienced the power of a wish first hand. When our daughter Nadia was 3 years old she was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy. From that day on she had to take numerous medications, and was not allowed to participate in any organized sports, or over strenuous activities. At age 14 her condition took a drastic change for the worse, she needed an immediate heart transplant. As one would think such news would be traumatic for a 14 year old girl, at that time Make-A-Wish came into the picture. Nadia loves horses and horseback riding and wished for a horse, Make-A-Wish came through with flying colors, Eli is the horses name and he is a 9 year old thoroughbred with a great personality. Nadia’s gift from Make-A-Wish gave her something to look forward to, after a long and traumatic operation and recovery. To this day Nadia is still fully involved with horseback riding, and cherishes her Eli. Our decision and motivation to participate in the Trailblaze Challenge is driven by our experience we had with Make-A-Wish during our time of need and support, we also experienced firsthand how many other families and their children were positively affected. Make-A-Wish is a great foundation, doing great things and they need support, so we want to give back as a family, and hope a lot of other kids will get their wish granted. Make a donation is easy and secure!
http://trailblazechallenge.kintera.org/2017spring/teamwaldhorn Any amount you can give is greatly appreciated to reach our goal and more! Every dollar you donate is 100% tax deductible. Please be assured that your generous gift will be used efficiently and effectively to grant vital wishes to children in our community. Our collective help is needed to provide Make-A-Wish the means to grant life-changing wishes. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of every child with life-threatening medical conditions. Thank you for helping us recognize this special occasion and for supporting the mission of Make-A-Wish.
Sincerely, Team Waldhorn (Gitta, Tom, Kira and Nadia)
